Creation of a mountain landscape covered in fog
With this composition I wanted to test the performance of my PC and create a realistic fog - not a simple texture, but a little more complex.
After the forrest was created and a suitable HDRi for the environment was found, I used a particle system to create the tree landscape (20,000 trees) on the hills. The viewport already showed to be problematic because of the number of projected objects. Additionally, the rendering with cycles with 2,000 samples and some other necessary settings (e.g. bloom, denoiser) took about 30 minutes.
The most interesting part was the creation of realistic fog. In the node editor you can see the complexity. Special thanks to CG Geek for his detailed explanation about the nodes! The final image with all elements took about 3 hours in total for the final rendering.
